Vassilis Alexopoulos is a junior at Stanford University, majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in biology. Vassilis travels to Greece yearly to see family, spearfish, and continue the panigiri of Agios Panteleimonas in Mykonos – a tradition that has been in his family for generations. He was an AP Scholar with Distinction and holds an AP Capstone Diploma along with being a National Merit Scholar. Vassilis is a state champion in policy debate and a member of the engineering honor society at Stanford.

Katerina Anamisis is a sophomore at the University of Florida Honors Program, majoring in microbiology and cell science. She received the College of Medicine University Scholar Award and is a research assistant in the Nano-Biomolecular Precision Lab, Chemical Engineering. Over 20 hours per week she researches Usher Syndrome, a condition of hearing and vision loss. She is a member of the Afieroma Greek dance group and Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Katerina is passionate about her medical research and is working on bringing therapeutics to clinical trials.

She is currently enrolled in the Geneva Masters Program in International & Development Studies, focusing on migration.She has studied European politics in Switzerland as an intern at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.She is passionate about human rights, specifically refugee protection. Despina is president of Orthodox Christian Fellowship and is a member of a dance team.

He is a captain of Stanford's Varsity Track and Field team, a top 3 program in the country in the hammer throw. Anthony actively serves his church and volunteers yearly at its festival.

Eleni Armatas is a freshman at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, double-majoring in management/ entrepreneurship and finance. She is on the Dean's List and selected for Business and Engineering Women in Tech, a program with which she recently traveled to India. Eleni is also invested in the Best Buddies program, cultivating relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Eleni is an active member of her church, volunteering as a Sunday School teacher and for Vacation Bible School.

Johnna Baniewicz is a senior at St. Xavier University, majoring in studio art and minoring in graphic design. She intends to pursue a career in animation. Johanna is on the Dean’s List and was a 2020 FAITH Scholar. Her artwork was selected and showcased at St. Xavier. Johnna is involved in the Visual Art Center’s Artbreakers art club and has assisted faculty through her ceramics studio and advanced studio assistant positions. At church, Johanna participates in Youth Choir and Jr. Olympics, and organizes the Jr. Orthodox Youth soccer team.

Gianna Bucaro is a junior at Butler University, majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences and minoring in psychology, and aspiring to earn a Master’s degree. Gianna faces her hearing disability with grace, perseverance, and acceptance, prioritizing her belief in God, family, and education. Gianna is president of  Orthodox Christian Fellowship and a member of the Hellenic Student Association. One of the most impactful lessons she gained from leading OCF and participating in faithful groups is learning to help others navigate their lives with faith.

Anastasios (Taso) Callanan is a junior at Princeton University, majoring in molecular biology while minoring in Hellenic studies and neuroscience. He aspires to attend medical school. As a varsity diving team member, he achieved fifth place at the 2022 USA Winter Nationals. He spent last summer in Athens studying Greek literature & photography. Taso is a peer academic advisor and engages in various campus organizations, including Best Buddies and the Blood Drive team. Taso enjoys attending Hellenic studies events such as guest lectures and Greek language tables.

Evelina Chiambas is a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in interdisciplinary health sciences with a focus in health diversity and minoring in business. She is vice president of intellectual development and the external philanthropy chair for Alpha Chi Omega and a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-health Honor Society. Evelina is also a member of the Hellenic Student Association. She volunteers at her local hospital and works as a dental assistant. Evelina is an active member of her church, volunteering annually at its festival.

Anastasia Chibucos is a junior at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in neuroscience and behavior, and minoring in compassionate care in medicine and in Theology, on the pre-med track. In the Vaughan Lab, she researches Niemann Pick Type-C, a pediatric neurodegenerative disease. She knits and crochets for the homeless of South Bend and works at a clinic as a medical assistant and translator. Anastasia was a Fanari Camp counselor, and she participated in church festivals, the Flogas dance troupe, Philoptochos and Byzantine Chant school.

Antonis Christou is a senior at Yale University, majoring in computer science and music. Trained as a bassist and composer, Antonis' compositions have been performed by numerous soloists and ensembles. As a computer scientist, Antonis is interested in developing tools for musicians that leverage machine learning to augment creativity. He  is an avid scholar of modern Greek art and enjoys analyzing Greek experimental classical music. Antonis is a member of the Greek Club at Yale and was a member of a Cypriot dance troupe.

Eleni Dalianis is a sophomore at Concordia University Wisconsin, majoring in business management and minoring in theater. She aspires to work in the nonprofit sector. Last summer, Eleni interned at the Metropolis of Chicago Fanari and Lighthouse camps. This summer she is interning at Focus North America, an Orthodox nonprofit that helps people with homelessness and food insecurity. Eleni serves as the co-director of the Vacation Church School program at her church, is active in the Young Adult League and on the board of Orthodox Christian Fellowship.

Andrew Dever is a junior at Wabash College, double-majoring in history and Spanish and minoring in the classics (Greek & Roman studies). He aspires to pursue a Juris Doctor degree and litigate constitutional law at the appellate level. Andrew grew up loving ancient history, playing three different sports, and traveling. He plays for the school soccer team, serves as vice president of the Pre-Law Society, and volunteers frequently. Andrew is an active member of his church, volunteering at festivals and participating in the dance troupe and youth groups.

Danae Dimitrakopoulos is a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology and minoring in microbiology. She is a pre-medical student in the Commonwealth Honors College. Born a first generation Greek-American, she speaks fluent Greek. She works in a biomaterials and cancer research lab at UMass. Danae devotes her free time to community service initiatives, most often in mental health advocacy and Greek education, as well peer mentoring and assistant teaching.

Yanni Economos is a senior at Northwestern University, majoring in radio/television/film and minoring in business institutions with a focus in creative marketing and advertising. He grew up in both Greece and the U.S. Professionally, Yanni co-founded and currently manages Econic, a global advertising agency that works to promote destinations and cultures, all while aiming to inspire positive change within the tourism industry. Yianni volunteers at the annual summer Greek festival at his home parish and was part of its dance troupe.

Theodore Efstathiadis is a senior at the University of Albany, majoring in business administration and minoring in economics. He is a direct admit to the Massry School of Business, enrolled in the Financial Analyst Honors Program, and intends to pursue an MBA degree. Theodore  has gained valuable experience interning at Goldman Sachs, Global Foundries, and Leone Real Estate Partners. Theodore serves as the Industrials Sector Head in his university’s investment group and is an active member of The Sons of Pericles.

Demetra Feradouros is a freshman at Loyola University Chicago, majoring in global studies and political science and minoring in law and politics, in the Honors Program. She is a writing tutor who was recognized for her model global studies research paper. Demetra has a C1(Greek Seal of Biliteracy) level proficiency of Greek and is a member of the Hellenic Student Assn. and  Orthodox Christian Fellowship. At church, Demetra volunteers at festivals, participates in the Greek dance troupe, is an Epistle reader, and a teacher assistant for special needs students.

Konstandinos Fili is a freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in computer engineering and pursuing a career as a GPU systems architect. He studied at the Hellenic American Academy, receiving awards for language and academic proficiency. He  received an Illinois Seal of Biliteracy in Greek and in Spanish. He has worked as  a receptionist and an accountant at the Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Center. Konstandinos participates in the Orpheus Hellenic Folklore Society and the Odeion School of Music.

Demetrios Fotopoulos is a junior at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in psychology and in Greek and Roman civilizations, minoring in European studies, peace studies, and constitutional studies. He aspires to be a pediatric clinical psychologist. Demetrios is the male staff director at Fanari Camp. Having previously worked at the Consulate General of Greece in Chicago, Demetrios is also an Orthodox Christian Fellowship officer and an ambassador for College Year in Athens, where he studied for a semester abroad.

Kalliopi Gentis is a sophomore at The Ohio State University, majoring in nursing in the Nursing and Dunns’ Scholars program and minoring in modern Greek. Aspiring to become a nurse practitioner, Kalliopi's academic journey is complemented by leadership roles in two clubs that embody her heritage—SIGMA and Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Kalliopi serves as an ambassador for the National Orthodox Christian Fellowship, demonstrating commitment and promoting her cultural roots and her devotion to her Orthodox Christian faith.

Anastasia is active in the Young Adult League, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Meals on Wheels, Vacation Church School and Project Mexico.

Christos N. Gountanis is a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in architecture and minoring in mathematics. He immigrated to the U.S. from Greece at the age of 18. He blends the rich heritage of ancient Greek design and proportions with contemporary innovation, aiming to create spaces that bring harmony. Christos has received awards with distinctions for academic excellence from the Central Society of Tsipianiton and AHEPA. At his church, Christos plays for the basketball team at annual national tournaments.

Stamatia A. Gountanis is a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in nutrition science and minoring in psychology. Stamatia embarked on a challenging journey when she immigrated from Greece to the U.S. at the age of 18. At church, she assists with Greek language classes and helps organize cultural festivals. .Stamatia spends time with the Vegan Resource Group, regularly volunteers at Feed My Starving Children and participates at the UIC community garden to practice sustainable food methods.

Yianni Hahalis is a senior at Pennsylvania State University, majoring in psychology and minoring in business. He is driven by human behavior in organizational leadership. Focused on a future in sales or management, he leverages leadership roles in Hellenic and community-driven environments to foster impactful connections. He serves as the president of the Hellenic Student Association and is an active member of Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Penn State. Marianthi actively participates in Orthodox Christian Fellowship and participated at Ionian Village. Marianthi teaches Sunday School, participates in a Greek dance group and serves as a camp counselor for Nazareth Camp in Pittsburgh.

Andrew Kennefick is a senior in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, double majoring in finance and accounting. He is on the Dean's List, First Honors, and the Headmaster's List at BC. Andrew is a member of the Hellenic Society of BC and plays on the BC Club Baseball team as a catcher. This year, Andrew was elected treasurer of Club Baseball.Upon graduation, Andrew will be working as an Investment Banking Analyst at the global technology investment bank, AGC Partners in Boston.

Effie Kodric is a freshman at the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in mechanical engineering. She loves drawing and playing music, aspiring to have a career that combines engineering with the arts. She plays the piano, guitar and violin. Effie was a member of the National Honor Society, an Illinois State Scholar, a top ten scholarship recipient, a top ten academic recognition and an All-Academic Athlete. Effie received the Woody Herman Jazz Award and the Louis Armstrong Jazz award.

Stavroula Kostas is a senior at Northeastern University, majoring in environmental studies and sociology. Her career aspiration is in climate policy. She is a resident assistant and serves on the board of Northeastern Huskies Outdoors Club. Stavroula has completed co-ops at the National Recreation and Park Association and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America’s Working Group on Girls UN Status of Women program.Stavroula is currently working at the Massachusetts Governor’s Office, facilitating Governor Healey’s Advisory Councils.

Lukas Koutsoukos is a freshman at Yale University, double-majoring in ethics, politics, & economics and in ancient & modern Greek. He was one of 161 high school seniors nationwide to receive the 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholar Award. He was high school valedictorian, a recipient of the 2023 Reagan Leadership Medal and a National Merit Finalist. His hobbies include singing, playing guitar, reading, and supporting Olympiacos. At church, Lukas volunteers in the dance group and sings kalanta at visits to Greek houses and businesses for Christmas and New Year.

John Krikonis is a freshman at Clark University, majoring in physics with a minor in mathematics. He is a collegiate athlete, currently playing for the men’s soccer team. Outside of his college commitments, John enjoys volunteering for Why Me & Sherry, a nonprofit  based in Worcester, MA that brings kids and their families together to receive the support and encouragement they need to combat childhood cancer. John is an active member of his Greek Orthodox parish.

Christos Kyriakopoulos is a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in accountancy. At UIUC, he  is the current president and Midwest Ambassador of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship, which is the largest chapter in the country. Christos is a member of the Hellenic Student Association at his university. Christos is also heavily involved in two Greek Orthodox parishes where he serves in the altar, ushers and volunteers for Feed the Hungry events and assists at the annual Greek festivals.

Eleni Mandarakas is freshman at Bucknell University, majoring in physics with a concentration in astrophysics and minoring in dance and math. She is an Arts Merit Scholar, is on the Dean’s List and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She  is a research assistant investigating dark matter particles and a teacher’s assistant for the astronomy lab. Eleni is an active member of Bucknell’s Hellenic Society and volunteers for special events and food preparation at her church.

Eleftheria Pantekidis is a sophomore at Tufts University, majoring in biology, biotechnology, and Spanish cultural studies, in pursuit of a career in medicine. She is on the Dean’s List and is a member of Tufts’ Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Eleftheria serves as a research assistant at the Tufts School of Medicine where she is a leader in community service and medical organizations. She works with Tufts’ Emergency Medical Services as Director of Quality Assurance. Eleftheria is active in her church community where she is a Greek school teacher.

Sofia Papakos is a senior at DePaul University, majoring in economics and minoring in anthropology. Concurrently, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in economics and quantitative analysis. She hopes to apply quantitative analysis within archeological preservation and  museum initiatives. Sophia has been on the Dean’s List consecutively the past four years. During her sophomore year she studied in Athens, immersing herself in Hellenism. Sofia is the Director of Social Affairs for the Hellenic Student Association at DePaul.

Sam Patterson is a junior at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in physics and minoring in psychology, on the pre-med track. He is involved in an ongoing research project with the Medical College of Wisconsin, analyzing experiences of patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT) during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is a “Transform Grant” finalist at the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement in St. Louis. Sam is president of the Sounds of St. Louis, a volunteer piano tutoring organization for K-12 students.

Andriana Piliouras is a sophomore at the College of the Atlantic, majoring in human ecology and pre-veterinary medicine. She  currently works as the lead staff member for the Allied Whale organization, where she creates fundraisers that support the response to whale strandings. She hopes to attend veterinary school, to participate in Vets Without Borders and to help communities across the globe. Andriana is a flute lesson teacher and volunteers as a teaching assistant for a high school band.

Vasiliki Rousakis is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in history with a concentration on the Ottoman Empire-19th to early 20th century. Her thesis focuses on the emergence of the Greek-American communities from 1900 to 1955. She is an active PanCretan Youth Association of America member and is the vice president of the reestablished youth chapter of PSYXI TIS KRITIS in Sacramento, CA. Vasiliki hopes to pursue her Master’s degree in Ottoman Studies at the University of Crete, Rethymno and a Ph.D. in history.

Sophia Sdregas is a freshman at The Ohio State University, majoring in philosophy, politics, and economics, and minoring in modern Greek. In high school, she was the salutatorian of her class. At Ohio State, Sophia is on the Dean’s List, member of pre-law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, member of Sigma Epsilon Phi fraternity and member of Orthodox Christian Fellowship. She is the state runner-up in the Lincoln Douglas Debate at Ohio Speech and Debate Association. Sophia actively participates in her church festivals and is in the Archangel Michael dance group.

Thomas Athanasios Seckinger is a sophomore at the Hellenic College Holy Cross, majoring in classics and minoring in education. He is a recipient of the Kallinikeion Academic Excellence Award and the Constantine Exarhakos Memorial Scholarship. Thomas is active at Hellenic College Holy Cross chapel where he is an altar servant.There, Thomas cleans the chapel before and after service, helps the priest lead the community prayer and bakes prosphora loaves on Friday nights.

Maria Stamatis is a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in English. She aspires to become a litigator and is on the Dean’s List. Maria actively participates in the UIUC Hellenic Student Association, Orthodox Christian Fellowship and the Rotoract club. She serves her church parishes at home and near campus by assisting as a Sunday School teacher and a vacation church school volunteer. Maria is also a member of the Young Adult League. Maria’s interests include drawing, reading, and traveling with family.

Legal Studies

Irene Triantafyllopoulos is a senior at the University of Central Florida, majoring in legal studies and minoring in digital media. She is a Dean’s List and President’s Honors List scholar. Irene is conducting her undergraduate Honors Thesis in girlhood studies and plans to utilize the  research from her thesis to become a creative voice for young women. She aspires to earn a Master’s degree in visual communication. Irene’s passions include traveling, fitness and tutoring Greek to her younger family members.

Peter Tsatalis

Biology

Peter Tsatalis is a junior at the University of Toledo, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. He has been accepted to The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Peter  conducts dental research and currently has two papers submitted for publication. Peter was selected as a Presidential Ambassador for his commitment to serving the campus community. He has been awarded the FAITH-STEM Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Peter enjoys volunteering with UT’s Hellenic Club, AHEPA, and the local Greek language school.

Kelly Zervos

Loyola University

Chemistry

Kelly Zervos is a senior at Loyola University Chicago, majoring in chemistry and minoring in bioethics and sociology. She  is on the Dean’s List. Kelly participates in analytical chemistry research, focusing on heavy metal analysis in plants from areas exposed to industrial pollution. She serves as treasurer of the Hellenic Student Association, board member of the American Chemical Society, and member of Orthodox Christian Fellowship. Kelly is also active in her church parish, volunteering as a Greek School kindergarten teacher.

Sophia Zervos
Madonna University
Comprehensive Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education

Sophia Zervos is a junior at Madonna University, double-majoring in comprehensive elementary education and in early childhood education. She is on the Dean’s List, has co-created an organization to provide resources for women with crisis pregnancies, is active in Daughters of Penelope and is a proud nouna. Sophia is an active member of her parish, where she teaches Sunday School and Greek dance, runs social media and festival marketing, founded its Young Adult League and served as GOYA president.
